The watermark prestige

The modern watermark

In today’s business environment, a corporate identity program must achieve thoroughness and consistency. That is why image-conscious companies will gain considerable benefits from a private watermark on their stationery. A watermark is an understated but always impressive emblem of professionalism, a proof of your attention to every detail of your operations.

The crafting of a corporate symbol

As in the manufacturing of fine paper, there are no shortcuts to the degree of quality that will satisfy Cascades Fine Papers Group's master papermakers. Similarly, the true watermark can be achieved by no other method than the painstaking of a “dandy roll”.

The dandy is a roll with a "negative" raised pattern of your corporate symbol which leaves a "positive" impression on the top surface of the wet web of the paper. Making a conventional dandy roll requires a complex series of steps whereby the original design is transferred to metal, then to wax, and finally to a bronze or stainless steel dandy roll on which the design appears in brass gauze or raised. Each dandy roll is made largely by hand.

Security

More than merely aesthetic in appeal, a true watermark adds a measure of security to important documents. Watermarks are used on most of the world’s banknotes because they are difficult to forge without the craftsmanship required to produce the genuine article.
